ABOUT
A one-person studio that does the work of an agency — without the overhead, the politics, or the inflated invoice.
THE STORY
I started McInery because I kept seeing the same thing: businesses paying agencies tens of thousands of pounds and getting mediocre work in return. The client talks to a salesperson, the salesperson writes a brief, the brief gets passed to a project manager, and eventually a junior developer builds something that doesn't quite match what anyone asked for. Half the budget goes to people who never touch the code.
I wanted to offer something different. When you work with me, you're working with the person who designs it, builds it, and ships it. There's no game of telephone. No layers of management. No surprise invoices for "project coordination." Just a developer who understands design and business, building exactly what you need.
I've spent 8+ years building software — websites, web applications, iOS apps — for businesses of all sizes. I've learned that the best results come from working closely with clients, moving quickly, and being honest about what's possible. That's what McInery is built on.
INDUSTRIES I KNOW
Every industry has its own language, its own customers, and its own definition of what "working" means. I've learned what matters in each.
Hospitality
Restaurants, bars, and cafes. I understand that your website needs to drive reservations, not just look pretty. Menus need to be easy to update, booking systems need to work on mobile, and the design needs to feel as good as the food.
Trades & Services
Electricians, plumbers, builders. Your website has one job: get the phone to ring. That means trust signals, local SEO, fast load times, and a quote form that's impossible to miss. No one's browsing your site for fun — they need help now.
Fitness & Wellness
Gyms, studios, personal trainers. The energy of your brand needs to come through online. Class schedules, trial sign-ups, membership tiers — I build sites that convert browsers into members.
Startups & Tech
Founders building their first product. I help you figure out what to build, scope the MVP, and ship it fast. No over-engineering, no premature scaling — just the features that matter, built properly.
WHAT I WON'T DO
These aren't marketing lines. They're commitments.
Take a project I can't do well
If your project needs something outside my expertise — enterprise Java, complex 3D, or a team of ten — I'll tell you and point you in the right direction. Taking your money for work I'll do badly isn't a business model.
Pad timelines to look busy
If something takes two weeks, I'll say two weeks. I won't stretch it to six to make the invoice look more impressive. You're paying for the result, not for my calendar.
Outsource without telling you
If a project needs a specialist, I'll tell you who they are, what they're doing, and why. You'll never find out after the fact that someone you've never heard of built half your product.
Disappear after launch
Every project includes 30 days of post-launch support. After that, I'm still available — I don't ghost clients the moment the final invoice is paid. Your site working properly next year matters as much as it working on launch day.
Charge you for scope I got wrong
If I underestimate the complexity, that's my mistake. The price we agree on is the price you pay. I'll never send an invoice that's higher than what we shook hands on.

Luke McInery
Founder & Developer
I'm a developer and designer based in London. I've been building for the web and iOS for over 8 years — from restaurant sites and e-commerce platforms to native apps and internal tools.
I care about the details that most developers skip: how fast the page loads, whether the design actually works on a real phone, whether the client can update their own content without calling me. I build things properly because cutting corners always costs more in the long run.
hello@mcinery.comONE PERSON, NOT ONE SKILL SET
I handle the design and development, but some projects need more. When they do, I bring in specialists I've worked with for years — not random subcontractors. You still have one point of contact.
Brand voice, web copy, SEO content
Visual identity, logo design, brand guidelines
APIs, databases, infrastructure, DevOps
Cloud infrastructure, scaling, security audits
WHAT I BUILD WITH
Modern, battle-tested tools chosen for performance, developer experience, and long-term maintainability.
HOW I WORK
Direct Communication
You talk to me — the person designing and building your project. Not a salesperson, not a project manager, not someone reading from a brief they half-understood. When you have a question, you get an answer from the person who actually knows.
Weekly Demos
Every week, you see real working software — not wireframes, not mockups, not a progress report with percentage bars. You can click through it, test it, and give feedback on something tangible. No week goes by where you're wondering what's happening.
No Surprises
I quote a price and I stick to it. If something turns out to be more complex than expected, that's on me — I scoped it. You'll never get an invoice that's higher than what we agreed. And if I think something will take longer, I'll tell you before it becomes a problem.
THE GUARANTEE
Not happy after the first milestone? You get a full refund. No questions asked, no awkward conversations.
I can offer this because I'm confident in the work. Every project starts with a clear scope, a fixed price, and weekly demos so there are no surprises. By the first milestone, you'll know exactly what you're getting — and you'll want to keep going.
LET'S TALK
If you've got a project in mind — or even just an idea you want to talk through — drop me a message. No pressure, no sales pitch.
